Message From President

Dear friends,

It is a proud moment for me to address you all, as president of SARAD.
SARAD is an amalgamation of Dermatological associations of 8 nations.
We all are bound by same ethnicity, almost similar culture, more importantly same dermatological issues, though divided by boundaries. The vibrancy of this association has continued inspite of various differences and difficulties.

All our nations are faced with many dermatological problems. Of those many, steroid abuse, fad of fairness and recalcitrant dermatophytoses are most demanding. These need to be tackled comprehensively through cooperation, counseling. A multinational and multicenter research will help us to understand the sociocultural factors and management of these problems.

The other pressing problem is quackery. It prevails everywhere. Commonly practiced, by persons of other systems like dental, AYUSH etc.
They indulge in hair transplant, aesthetic procedures etc.
Many patients have suffered, even leading to death, by such quacks. Unregistered, unscrupulous training centers have cropped up everywhere. The story may be the same in all SARAD nations. In India IADVL has taken up the fight against quackery in right earnest – Legally, Ethically and Socially. We are on public awareness campaign about ill effects of quackery. We hope it will bear fruit.

My humble request to all member associations is to take up fight against QUACKs. A campaign about SKIN HEALTH as envisioned by WHO & ILDS should be taken up. These two can be achieved through camps, awareness programs in schools, colleges, various social groups and through social media. We dermatologists are spread over 8 nations united for one cause – HEALTHY SKIN FOR ALL.

The new team has many plans for the benefit all SARAD members. We hope to carry them out successfully. We seek your cooperation in that.

Friends, let us keep doing our work earnestly, dedicatedly and united. To achieve this it is important to keep communicating, always all time.

Wishing everyone the very best

Long live SARAD

Dr Jayadev Betkerur
