The 10th South Asian Regional Conference of Dermatology (SARCD2017) was held in Lahore , Pakistan from 17- 19 November 2017. The venue was Hotel Pearl Continental, Lahore. The conference was combined with the Annual conference of Pakistan Association of Dermatologists (PAD).
The SARAD member countries were poorly represented. Four dermatologists from attendance from SAARC nations. I was the only representative from India. Many were denied permission by the Nepal and 4 from Srilanka were present. Delegates from other countries namely Bangladesh, Maldives, Bhutan were absent. The perceived political and hostile environment could be the reasons for this poor government. The organizers tried their best to make our visit comfortable. Our appreciation to them
The conference was very well arranged in a very good venue. The scientific sessions were well attended. Emphasis was on aesthetic and cosmetic dermatology. A separate session for residents to present papers would have made the scientific program more interesting.
The hospitality was one of the best for SARAD delegates . People in the conference and outside were more friendly and helpful. The city of Lahore is very beautiful with history blended with modernity. The cultural events and Dinners were of very high standards.
The SARAD Executive committee meeting was held on 17 the afternoon. The main point of discussion was to get SARAD recognized by SAARC. Dr Anil Jha was requested to Liaise with SAARC secretariat to get this done. Dr Jayadev was asked to assist him. The problems of exchange problem was also discussed . It was decided to hold the next SARCD in 2019 at Kathmandu, Nepal. New office bearers for the period 2017-19 were elected. The AGBM of SARAD was held on 17th Nov evening . The decisions taken in Ex Co meeting were endorsed by the GB. The newly elected office bearers were installed.
