Dear SARAD members,
SARAD has been in existence for over 25 years and had proven itself to be an organization to promote cooperation and collaboration among Dermatologists from the region. This was even more evident during the recent COVID-19 pandemic, with Dermatologists from the region coming together to continue sharing knowledge using new technology.
The emergence of the use of virtual platforms for knowledge sharing has enabled easy and more cordial relationships among the SARAD members. The strength of SARAD has grown with the incorporation of Afghanistan and the Maldives as fully fledged members of SARAD.
As a region, South Asian countries share similar challenges in the field of Dermatology. The challenges posed by neglected tropical diseases, the emerging threat of an epidemic of Dermatophyte infections, and the growing problems due to unregulated and unsafe cosmetic practices are some of them. A concerted effort by all the member associations of SARAD will provide better chances of facing these challenges successfully.
I sincerely hope that the strategies that are being planned by the SARAD to improve cooperation among Dermatologists of the region would pave the way for better Dermatological care for the patients from the region.
